The establishment of WE Charity Foundation

We are pleased to announce that WE Charity Foundation (WCF) has now been established and organized to carry on the work started by WE Charity Canada. Its mandate: to ensure the continued support of impactful projects in Kenya, those that will ensure transformational change for generations, including Baraka Hospital, Kisaruni Group of Schools, WE College and the Women’s Empowerment Centre. An independent Board of Directors has been appointed which will oversee the governance of the foundation and the distribution of funds to our programs on a long-term basis. The WCF web site is now live providing an overview of the Kenya projects which have been accomplished, including photos of the 850+ schools and school rooms built in the country, organized by region.

Completing existing projects and ensuring long-term sustainability

When the winding-down of WE Charity Canada was announced, it was also announced that all outstanding development projects underway or planned would be completed. In the majority of communities, these represent the final stages of our WE Villages five-pillar development model, which ensures long-term sustainability. Since then, we’ve worked closely with community partners to fulfil this commitment in the coming months. As intended, these projects will be fully run by these communities, which will soon have the local capacity to plan for future needs and to lead continued change.

25 years of transformative impacts

Over the last 25 years, WE Charity Canada has transformed the quality, accessibility and impact of education in every community where it works by partnering with community leaders, families and local government. These partnerships have resulted in significant improvements in health care, access to clean water, financial literacy training, economic opportunity and food security, all of which have empowered communities to thrive. We invite you to read their incredible stories in, "IMPACT: The Improbable Story of WE." Featuring stunning photography, the book honours the extraordinary people we're proud to call partners and friends.
