Seriously?! Days don’t get much better than this! WE Day Seattle knows how to bring it.

The day was packed (literally) with 15,000 earth shakers filling up the Key Arena in downtown Seattle, incredible speakers, and ridiculously good performances.

Let’s relive it all, together! Check out our fav moments from WE Day Seattle.

FIRST PERIOD: ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Our super-rad hosts Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell and Free The Children Ambassador Kardinal Offishall kicked us off as we entered into our first class of the day, which was all about how we can help others and give back through economics!

Gracie Schram was teaching us this period, and reminded us of some of the economic realities at home in Washington and globally. Around the world, 1.3 billion people live on less than a dollar to 25 cents a day. In Washington, 1 in 4 young people has a family that struggles to pay for food and rent.

Together, we can help change these statistics!

All the way from Kenya, Mama Helen took the stage to share how ME to WE artisans are helping to empower her community by proving herself and other mamas jobs so they can support their families.

Youth speaker Kat Tiscornia talked about thinking ahead and planning. She reminded the crowd to start small and keep going, because a whole bunch of small acts can turn into major change. Totally!

Closing out our first class of the day, the talented sensation Jhené Aiko performed her song Eternal Sunshine— it was definitely music to our ears!

SECOND PERIOD: TECHNOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT

Technology and science can help us achieve amazing feats that better our world.

ME to WE speaker Spencer West started off this class and shared with the crow, “I am sitting here in front of you because of science.”

New Girl star Hannah Simone interviewed the brilliant Dr. Mae Jemison on stage. She’s the first woman of color to ever go to space, a physician, scientist, engineer, explorer AND futurist. She shared how she found the confidence to succeed, and gave us some fun advice like remembering to have a sense of humor!

Suman Mulumudi is a 16-year-old student and… CEO! He talked about how he’s using technology to give back, and how true innovation is “the combination of art and science.” We love it!

This period also saw some sweet performances from Northwest hip-hop artist Shelton Harris and indie folk band The Head and The Heart who closed us out with their soulful tune Rivers and Roads.

THIRD PERIOD: SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT

This class was all about different social causes that impact lots of people including youth homelessness, bullying, and creating a more accepting culture.

Actress Lily Collins who’s an ambassador for Bystander Revolution shared how she wants us to create a culture where it’s not normal to bully, and where kindness is a reflex!

Four-time boxing world champion and daughter of a global icon, Laila Ali spoke on how everyone has something special to offer the world, and that truly knowing what you stand for can help you beat any obstacle.

Bars and Melody gave us one HOPEFUL performance, and surprise guest Macklemore came out to introduce someone we all love…. Seattle Seahawks Head Coach & WE Day Seattle Co-Chair Pete Carroll!

FOURTH PERIOD: EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT

Glee actress Becca Tobin opened up our last class of the day which is all about education and how it’s key to building a brighter future.

Kweku Mandela, social advocate & grandson of the late President Nelson Mandela, shared with the crowd of world-changers some prized wisdom from his legendary grandfather.

“If there’s one lesson my grandfather taught me, it’s that strength and leadership come from within,” he said.

Then the cheering went wild as Seahawks players graced the stage!

Of course, a WE Day class wouldn’t be complete without some more music! Lennon & Maisy returned with Ho Hey, and Kardinal Offishall and JRDN performed Freedom bringing the energy all the way up!
