WE Day Toronto was seriously CHARGED UP.
All Drake references aside, WE Day in the 6ix (okay, just one more) saw more than 20,000 world changers fill the Air Canada Centre for the most epic start to the 2015-2016 WE Day season.
From superstar hosts like Demi Lovato and Nina Dobrev, standout performances including ones from Hozier, Nick Jonas, and Shawn Mendes to amazing speakers like Rookie Mag editor-in-chief Tavi Gevinson and social change activist Tonika Morgan—WE Day Toronto came out in full force.
Let’s also not forget the unstoppable youth who lit up our stage with their stories and the thousands in the crowd who are changing our world.
WE Day is all about celebrating the power WE have to change the world. Here some of our Toronto highlights!
What better way to kick off WE Day Toronto than with a red carpet! Students woke up extra early to snap a few selfies with some of our performers and speakers.
A story that never gets old: How WE started. Actor/activist Elliot Miville-Deschênes shared how our WE Day co-founder at age 12 was moved to take action and rally his classmates together after reading an article on child labour. This was definitely a powerful moment.
She’s the Editor-in-Chief of Rookie Mag, a feminist, and all-around awesome person. It was so cool having Tavi Gevinson share her message with the crowd.
This performance though! Always a favourite, Shawn Mendes took the stage accompanied by the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. Musical dreams = fulfilled.
Nick Jonas performed. Need we say more? Okay, we will… let’s just say it was next level. See what WE did there?
YOU. Every single world changer in the room was a highlight in our books. You’re the ones out there in your communities making a difference here and across the globe. Keep doing you, friends.
Thanks for being so great Toronto. We can’t wait for the next one! See if WE Day is coming to your city.
WE Day is free to thousands of students and educators thanks to partners led by National Co-Title Sponsors RBC and TELUS. Learn more about WE Day Toronto.
