BY STAFF

WE Day season is in full gear! That time of year when youth from coast to coast come together in their local communities to celebrate volunteerism and their contribution to WE Charity.

Together with the help of educators, family members, friends and mentors, these young people have accumulated impact upon impact to create widespread change beyond their own backyard.

For change-makers in the tri-state area—who have tirelessly worked to earn their way to the big show through volunteer hours—WE Day has a treat for its first American stop during the Fall 2019 tour.

Ever take part in a model UN at your school? Well, New York, Craig and Marc Kielburger are bringing the real thing to you with WE Day UN!

Taking place at the Barclays Center on September 25, during the United Nations General Assembly and hosted in partnership with UNAIDS, UN Global Compact and other UN agencies, this isn’t your average WE Day. And since even the most ordinary of WE Days are spectacular (see the gush-fest around WE Day Toronto last week. Thanks for the shout out @jordan_fisher!) WE Day UN is going to be a change-maker bonanza.

Hosted by Skai Jackson, Angie Martinez and Ally Love, WE Day UN will see inspirational speakers (think Jameela Jamil) and talented performers (like Ally Brooke) take the stage to speak about how communities can support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through world-changing impacts, just like more than 18,000 schools across the United States, United Kingdom and Canada will be doing through the WE Schools service-learning program this academic year.

Below, an introduction to just a few of the incredible guests from the WE Day UN 2019 lineup.

Tip: Can’t make it to New York for the big show? Join thousands of viewers from all around the globe and tune into WE Day UN online via our live webcast.

Liza Koshy

Liza Koshy

We can’t wait to welcome YouTuber and actress Liza Koshy to her first WE Day on the east coast! Hilarious and happy, there’s more to the star than her funny bone. In 2017 the Vogue correspondent launched a collection of necklaces with The Giving Key to support people transitioning out of homelessness, and was named one of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet by Time earlier this year. We're eager to see just how Koshy will bring her positive nature to the Barclays Center!

KYLE

KYLE

Another WE Day first-timer, rapper and actor Kyle will have the whole crowd dancing when he performs at the Barclays Center! Known for upbeat tracks like “Playinwitme” and “iSpy”, the California native has been outspoken about his own challenges with mental health and even collaborated with AXE during National Bullying Prevention Month to help address outdated male stereotypes and toxic masculinity with high school students. We’ll have Light of Mine on repeat until he takes the stage on September 25!

Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil

The Good Place actress and one of BBC’s 100 Women, Jameela Jamil is as famous for her social activism as she is for her side-splitting roles. She’s been an open critic of the diet industry and a proud supporter of the body positivity movement through her Instagram account @i_weigh. She’s also the founder of Why Not People? a company that hosts accessible live music events. We can’t wait for Jamil to bring her hilarity and positivity to the WE Day stage!

Nick Kristof

Nick Kristof

A winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, journalist Nick Kristof has been an outspoken critic of human rights abuses and social injustices around the world. As a columnist for The New York Times, Kristof is a respected thought-leader who has written extensively about gender disparities in developing countries, the plight of refugees caught in conflict and issues affecting global health. Always giving a voice to the voiceless, we’ll be taking notes when Kristof brings his wisdom to WE Day.
