Forbes – Seat Of Power Episode 5: Craig Kielburger On Helping Young People Change The World

What kind of job title do you assign to someone who’s brought millions of people around the world together, spoke on countless stages and inspired the world through books, events and more? You can call him a humanitarian, activist and social entrepreneur, but simply put, Craig Kielburger is one of the busiest people I’ve ever met. He is the youngest ever graduate from the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA program, has 15 honorary doctorates and degrees, has published 12 books, and is a nationally syndicated columnist. How does he do it all? When he sat down for our Seat of Power interview, I understood: Kielburger’s energy knows no bounds.

Kielburger’s relentless positivity has helped him grow WE, the movement he co-founded with his brother Mark over 20 years ago, into a global symbol of change. As a 12-year-old, Kielburger discovered the limitations behind traditional charitable giving: it revolved around financial gifts, essentially rendering it impossible for children to participate without parental support. From that, the WE Movement and all its entities was born: a way for children, schools and families to actively be agents of change. The scale they’ve built is major–3.8 million people each year are involved.

The question he aims to answer is multifacted: “How do we create a society, how do we create a culture, how do we create a world that’s very entrepreneurial for good, and every young person learns that skill set at a very young age?”
