Part of, and exclusive to the WE Schools programme, WE Discover is a new, digital programming platform built to allow teachers to incorporate social action learning and exploration into the classroom. Through WE Discover, students will explore three local social issues: homelessness, the environment and food insecurity. Complete six chapters in each issue’s module to learn more about the topic and earn valuable points for your team. Check the leaderboard to see where your team ranks and connect with other teams to learn more about their social action projects.

Firstly, it’s fun! Through WE Discover’s interactive content, your students will learn about a range of social issues and develop skills to take action on issues they’re most passionate about. Each module guides your students through our four-step WE Schools programme: 1) Investigate and learn 2) Action plan 3) Take action 4) Report and celebrate. Our programme outcomes aim to impact your learners by instilling active citizenship, increasing academic attainment and improving university and workplace readiness. The content and activities on WE Discover has been designed with the age range of 9–13 year-olds in mind, however, you can use for any age learner you deem appropriate.

Yes, you can register as many classes/groups as you like. For each class/group you’ll need to register their own account as their profile, modules and points will be unique to that class/group. You are asked for three pieces of information to log in: email address, class name and password. If you have multiple classes/groups registered to WE Discover then the “class name” will be the differentiator.

Once you’ve signed up you’ll receive a welcome email confirming your username/email address, class name and password. Once you’ve logged in for the first time, you’ll be taken automatically to your team page. You’ll then be asked to complete three simple steps: watch a short introductory video, set up your team profile including personalised avatar and finally create your first post. You’ll then be able to start your WE Discover journey and select your first social issue module.

Each team requires an adult teacher/group leader. The teacher/group leader will facilitate the activities through our step-by-step instructions that are displayed on the screen.

WE Discover is a platform that has clear step-by-step instructions for both the teacher/group leader and your students/young people. This means that no preparation time is required before participating in our content. Should you wish, there is a demo mode that allows you to access the content ahead of running the session with your students/group.

Each module contains six chapters. A chapter takes approximately 10-20 minutes to complete, therefore, each module will take between one to two hours to complete. Each module also includes a bonus chapter, which allows your students to report and celebrate their social action project. Completing this bonus chapter rewards your team with the highest amount of points available.

Absolutely! You’re able to visit other team pages and click the “connect” button. The teacher/group leader of that team will receive an email letting them know that you would like to connect. They will be provided with your name, school/group and your email address. They will then be able to contact you via email. Please note that any conversations between two teachers/group leaders should strictly be about WE Discover and your teams’ social action projects.
