For those who are curious, sleep trackers and wearable devices offer insights and information about the duration, quality and patterns of your shut eye. However, a study from Rush University Medical College and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine cautions that an extreme fixation on data—especially potentially inaccurate data—can stress people out, rather than help them to sleep!

In an interview with Maclean’s, Arianna Huffington shared that she keeps this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson by her bed to help silence her mind: “Finish every day, and be done with it. You have done what you could—some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in, forget them as fast as you can, tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it well and serenely, and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

Wise words to sleep on.
