WE Charity carries the power of WE globally, empowering communities to lift themselves out of poverty through our holistic, sustainable international development model, Free The Children’s WE Villages.
WE Charity is an international charity and educational partner. Our organisation is unique among international charities in that it operates collaborative programmes both domestically and internationally.
In the UK, Canada and the US, WE Day and WE Schools are initiatives of WE Charity that educate and empower young people. WE Schools is a year long educational programme that nurtures compassion in students and gives them the tools to create transformative social change. And WE Day is a series of powerful, stadium-sized events that celebrate young people who are making a difference in their local and global communities.

In Africa, Asia and Latin America, we partner with communities to implement WE Villages, a holistic, five-pillar international development model designed to achieve sustainable change. Together with local leaders and families, we transform lives with solutions that are adaptive, effective and sustained long term by the community itself.
Transforming the world starts with WE Villages, an adaptive, effective five-pillar model built on over 20 years of experience working alongside dedicated communities and development experts to find solutions that last. WE Villages supports community development in areas where there is a high incidence of child labour, exploitation of children and minimal opportunities for girls. Currently, we work in Kenya, India, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Haiti, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and rural China.
Our Education pillar goes beyond school building. We provide teacher training, extracurricular programmes, books and basic school supplies so that children can focus on their studies without worrying about absent teachers or a lack of learning materials.
Without water, a community can’t grow. We help communities install hand pumps, boreholes, wells, pipes, hand-washing stations, rain catchment systems and latrines. Clean water gives families the chance to raise healthy children, run sustainable farms and send their girls to school.
A healthy community is a sustainable community. When children are healthy, they are less likely to miss school or drop out. And when parents are healthy, their family businesses are more likely to thrive. By offering health training, clinics, medical supplies and workshops to developing communities, we’re empowering families to transform their lives and their communities.
Nutritious food fuels growing minds and contributes to thriving communities. Made possible by founding partner PotashCorp, we help provide school gardens, family farms, nutrition programmes, agriculture training, improved seeds and irrigation projects so that communities can achieve long-term health and access stable food sources.
Entrepreneurship doesn’t just give parents the means to provide for their family—it empowers a generation with new skills that will transform their lives. We help parents, especially mothers, create new economic opportunities through leadership sessions, financial literacy workshops and vocational training.
