In September 2017, in a podcast containing significant factual inaccuracies entitled “It’s Important to Kick These People When They’re Down,” Canadaland misrepresented WE Charity and the Globe & Mail collaborating to create content as “media manipulation” of young people (See [Setting the Record Straight: Globe & Mail Partnership](/we_org/en-CA/formal-notice/media-partnership/globe-and-mail-partnership)).\\n\\nOn November 19, 2018, Canadaland released another podcast, with accompanying blog post, concerning WE Charity’s engagement with media. Once again, these pieces contained multiple factual errors.\\n\\nAmong the erroneous allegations:\\n\\n- Canadaland called into question the legitimacy of WE Charity receiving the first Humanitarian Seal award from Good Housekeeping Magazine, suggesting this was “just advertising.” Good Housekeeping has been one of the most trusted brands in America for over 100 years. Basic research would have found that Good Housekeeping developed a rigorous process for evaluating this award. As their own material states: “Engineers and senior-level members of the Good Housekeeping Institute worked with financial and legal experts as well as seasoned consultants in the fields of nonprofit governance, social responsibility and charitable giving to establish criteria for the Good Housekeeping Humanitarian Seal.” Learn more about the Seal [here](https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/institute/about-the-institute/a45389/good-housekeeping-humanitarian-seal-faqs/).\\n- Canadaland falsely alleges that special section content in the Globe & Mail is created by WE staff. Again, a minimum of research would have shown that the Globe & Mail maintains full editorial control over all special section content. Even a cursory scan of articles in these special sections would show that, apart from columns bylined by Craig and Marc Kielburger, WE Charity did not provide any editorial content.\\n- Canadaland falsely alleged that WE Charity is frequently litigious against the media. This is incorrect. WE Charity last issued a notice of libel against a media outlet in 1997—more than 20 years ago. This biased statement and self-serving blogpost by Canadaland was because WE Charity sought to correct Canadaland’s October 15 blog post and podcast that contained significant false statements and manufactured evidence, including digitally altered images. WE Charity submitted to Canadaland a Notice of Libel on November 6, asking for a correction and apology, and Canadaland published this media blogpost on November 19.\\n- Canadaland misleadingly references a 1997 lawsuit by WE co-founder Craig Kielburger against Saturday Night Magazine, selectively quoting from the 1997 article in order to falsely make that article’s contents seem benign, and portray WE Charity as litigious. Canadaland selectively edited its excerpt of the 1997 Saturday Night article. The blog included a quotation of text from the article, yet deliberately omitted the preceding lines of text that contained the specific libellous content.\\n- This follows Canadaland’s Sep 27, 2017 podcast entitled “It’s Important to Kick These People When They’re Down”, that made additional false allegations regarding WE Charity. The inaccurate statements included Canadaland’s claim that WE Charity and the Globe and Mail were engaged in the “media manipulation” of school children. Furthermore, Canadaland claimed that the partnership involved a for-profit entity, when it is very clear that WE Charity is a registered charity.\\n\\nCanadaland’s November 19, 2018, article and podcast were published after WE Charity issued to Canadaland a Notice of Libel for an October article which falsely alleged that WE Charity partnerships support child labor.
