What is badging?
Digital badging is a powerful tool that recognizes achievements that may not be measured by traditional assessments. Through our WE Schools Badge Program, students receive badges to showcase their hard work and achievements, motivating teachers and students to celebrate the steps that were taken to get there.
Communication and collaborative skills are powerful indicators of future success and achievement. Being able to recognize these skills helps learners visualize and conceptually see these accomplishments as achieved skills. Benefits of badging include:
- Greater student engagement
- Provides proof of skill mastery for college entrance and future employers
- Incentivizes future accomplishments
The “Tech for Good” badge
Growing up in a technology-driven world means that developing digital skills is necessary for achieving academic and workplace readiness. With the first-ever WE Schools badge, Tech for Good, students are empowered with digital resources and skills to create innovative solutions for those in need. Students will become proficient in the three globally recognized EdTech standards developed by the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE): Digital Citizen, Global Collaborator and Computational Thinker.
The International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) Student Standards
The ISTE Student Standards describe the abilities and content knowledge students require to positively contribute to an interconnected, global society. These standards set clear learning objectives for students, while providing the freedom to use any number of hardware, software and app-based technologies to demonstrate proficiency.
Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act in and model ways that are safe, legal and ethical.
Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally.
Students develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions.
Help your students gain a greater understanding of local and global issues through research and up-to-date statistics.
